The Need

There is a huge chasm of extreme inequalities based on income, class and gender in India that needs to be filled so that not only just the fortunate few but the ‘Whole India’ can take a step forward into a more prosperous future...

Why Now? India is poised in the world as a fast paced emerging economy with accelerated GDP growth but at the same time is lagging behind in providing basic universal education to all children. The tenth five year plan (2002-2007) mentions: All children in school by 2003; all children to complete 5 years of schooling by 2007;Reduction in gender gaps in literacy by at least 50 per cent by 2007; However, more than 25 million primary school-age children are not in school. Two out of five first-grade students will not complete the primary cycles of 4 to 5 years (depending on the state), and the learning achievement of those graduating is low.

The UN Millennium Development Goals(MDG) is to achieve universal primary education for all children but in case of India, that can only be accomplished through concerted efforts in this direction on part of the Indian government, commitement from the world organizations, like UNDP, UNESCO as well as the non governmental organizations that supports and supplements the huge gap that we currently have.

We hope to generate public awareness and social responsibility among the fortunate Individuals around the world with a few lines of Nobel Prize Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore's famous poem:
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;Where knowledge is free;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action-- Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
