Request a Matching Gift from your company

“As companies are getting ready to reconcile with their targeted calendar donations, this is a refresher from Reena’s workshop on how to request corporate donations:

  1. Matching Donation
  2. Specific Event Donations
  3. Compensation for employee’s volunteer hours
  4. Donation on Employee’s request
  1. Matching Donation
Many of us donated to SSF in small amounts here and there. This donation can still be typically matched by the company. For example, if you have given $20 in march08 and $30 in july08, you can get consolidated receipt from SSF (If you already do not have these 2 receipts) and send it to your HR and they might send a matching check to SSF.
  2. Specific Event Donation
If your country is affected by some natural disaster like at the time of Tsunami companies donated double the amount of what employees donated towards the cause.
  3. Compensation for employee’s volunteer hours
Most of company matches the volunteer hour as well and compensate the organization for the hours that you put in. For example, for the dandia event, if you volunteered 5hr, some companies match back $10×5=$50 to that charity organization. Just ask for the volunteer letter with number of volunteer hours from SSF, if required.
  4. Donation on Employee’s request
Many companies donate to charity organization of their employees request like my company donates $500 to SSF every year on my one email request.
